2023-2024 Healthcare Grant Awards

The Beatrice Community Hospital Foundation awards $255,000 in healthcare grants.

 

The Beatrice Community Hospital Foundation this year is awarding $255,369.00 in grants for both hospital and community projects. Healthcare grants provided by the BCH Foundation began with the intent of enhancing the medical and healthcare services in the region. Each of the grants awarded addresses issues of medical care, accessibility, social determinants of health, and the patient experience.

 

Fourteen grants were awarded to BCH departments to upgrade equipment and provide new services. An additional nine grants were awarded to community nonprofits to help improve the health and wellness challenges facing area residents, and to enhance the community experience.

 

“Grant applications in 2023 reflected the diverse health and wellness needs of our community.” Rich Hovendick, president of the Foundation’s volunteer board of directors, said. “The BCH Foundation board is always pleased to be able to support the work of both the hospital and the community in such an important way.”

 

$207,272 in Grant awards to Beatrice Community Hospital Departments & Clinics:

$50,877.00 - awarded to Acute Care for a remote TOCO monitor, replacement of sleeper couches, and a vein finder.

$5,000.00 - awarded to Case Management for Omron and A&D blood pressure machines.

$6,495.00 - awarded to Cardiopulmonary Department for a T5 Cross Trainer.

$9,000.00 - awarded to the Emergency Department for a blanket warmer.

$1,000.00 - awarded to Facilities for a sitting bench outside of the clinic.

$40,000.00 - awarded to Labor & Delivery for a bedside ultrasound.

$83,200.00 - awarded to Surgical Services for boom upgrades in two OR rooms, a vein finder, eye stretchers, overbed trays, and a MacGrath Video Lamgoscope.

$11,700.00 - awarded to Women’s & Children’s Clinic for nebulizers and a jaundice meter.

 

$48,097.00 in Grant awards to Gage County Community Nonprofits:

$2,000.00 – awarded to Beatrice Community Preschool for dental screenings

$4,500.00 – awarded to Beatrice Public Schools for sensory tools and motor equipment for elementary students

$20,000.00 – awarded to Blue Rivers Area Agency on Aging for a non-emergency medical transport van

$2,100.00 - awarded to CASA of Gage County to fund renovations for a visitation center

$5,400.00 - awarded to Good Samaritan Society for an in-floor wheelchair scale

$5,000.00 – awarded to the Heartland Cancer Foundation to support ten Gage County cancer patients in their healing

$2,000.00 - awarded to Make-A-Wish to support the wish of a Gage County child

$3,000.00 – awarded to Sewing for Babies for the purchase of knitting materials to make cloth materials for babies and families in need

$4,097.00 - awarded to Whispering Acres Tails & Treasures for increased handicap accessibility

 

The BCH Foundation accepts healthcare grant applications from hospital departments and the community on an annual basis. Applications are open June 1st with a due date of July 31st each year.
